A beauty queen has told how she shot and killed a burglar as he wrestled with her fiancé during a break-in in the middle of the night. Police are investigating the death of Albert Hill at 3am in an incident at the Florida mansion which Meghan Brown, 25, shares with fiancé Bobby Planthaber Jr, 43. The 2009 Miss Tierra Verde had opened the door to him on March 12 in the early hours thinking he was a friend needing a bed for the night. But she claims the 42-year-old, 18-stone man grabbed her from behind and covered her nose and mouth with his hand, before heading straight to the bedroom.
As she screamed, her fiancé emerged, later telling the St Petersburg Times: 'My number one objective is to get this guy off my fiancée.' Detectives said the intruder then ordered him to give him money. The fight between the two men broke the dining room table and chairs but, as they tussled, Miss Brown produced her pink gun from her bedside table. 'I had my gun drawn, focused in on him - as he moved, my gun moved. I waited for my shot and when I saw an opening, I fired,' she told the newspaper. Miss Brown said she was 'glad' it had been her, because not everybody else would have been as prepared as she was. 'The way I see it is, the guy was a really bad guy and if it wasn't my bullets, it probably would have been the police officer's bullets,' she said. 'It's not like he was going to turn his life around.'

The PRRS disease is also known as blue ear disease occurring with pig for the first time in Myanmar recently. The 500 pigs were among the 2,000 bred in 200 poultry farms in five townships in Mandalay, the Weekly Eleven News said. So far, the disease, detected from the dead pigs, has not spread to other animals or human but infect other pigs, it said. Veterinary surgeons are exploring the cause of the disease, the report added. The Livestock Breeding and Veterinar Department (LBVD) has warned the public to take bio-security measures and report to the authorities on suspected death of livestocks.
Meanwhile, avian influenza (H5N1) struck Sittway, western Rakhine state and Tantsle township, northwestern Sagaing region in the first two months of this year respectively and thousands of chickens, suspected of carrying virulent avian influenza, were wiped out following the discovery of their unusual death.
Myanmar was first struck by bird flu H5N1 in 2006.

Three giant alien spaceships are heading for Earth! Scientists predict they will arrive in early 2011.
UFO encounters continue to increase – as documented on WWN. And today scientists at SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence), an independent non-commercial organization, made a major announcement:
“Three giant spaceships are heading towards Earth. The largest one of them is 200 miles wide. Two others are slightly smaller. At present, the objects are just moving past Jupiter. Judging by their speed, they should be on Earth by early 2011,” said John Malley, the lead extraterrestrial expert at SETI.
The spaceships were detected by HAARP search system. The system, based in Alaska, was designed to study the phenomenon of northern lights. According to SETI researchers, the objects are extraterrestrial spaceships. They will be visible in optical telescopes as soon as they reach Mars’s orbit – sometime in March of 2011. The US government has been reportedly informed about the event.

If you can dream it (and afford it), Daniel Reese (aka Brass Monki) can make it happen on a pair of Nike Dunks. We discovered him researching our Geek Sneaks article, and knew we had to go back and run a full piece. Inspired by a boring afternoon, a Biro and a pair of white plimsolls, Reese threw himself into sneaker pimping when a night out in his new doodle sneakers ended with a pocket full of requests and a wallet full of cash - he didn't buy a drink all night! These days, things are way more professional. Business is booming and the Monki's branching out. He even got a cease and desist letter from Warner Bros, for an awesome-looking pair of Batman and Robins. Not bad for a 22-year-old that still lives at home...

It’s been about three years since I doodled on those pumps. But I turned my attention to leather and started the Brass Monki blog in July 2009.
Were you always a massive sneaker head?
Huge! Since I turned 16 and got a job, I haven’t stopped buying shoes.
How many pairs do you own?
I’d say about 40 sneakers and around 25 plain white Nike Dunks ready to paint!
The site says you also re-stuff tongues and colour the stitching, how much have you learned about sneakers over the years?
I’ve learned a lot, but all the information’s out there. Everything I know is from the Internet, little written guides and YouTube.
