How was Fashion Week in New Orleans? What was the theme or main focus on the collection you presented?

Fashion week New Orleans was great. My show went better than I could have ever imagined and  I got to meet so many incredible people. The main theme of the show was empowering woman everywhere. I am working on a project in Haiti to give single mothers jobs making my jewelry. I want to make the women who make my jewelry and also who wear it to feel confident.

What made you get involved with jewelry?

I began modeling in Miami when I was 18. After a few years of modeling I wanted to do something more and realized my hobby of making jewelry could be that something more. Shortly after I started my line, Mixon by Anna Mixon.

How would you describe...or how have other people described your style?

I would describe my style as out of the box. I wear what I feel confident in and comfortable at the same time. I have never been to try and "keep up with the trends". If I see something I like, I wear it.

Most inspirational city personally for you, and why?

A small city in Haiti called Jacmel. Although Haiti has its struggles, this city proves change can be made in Haiti and also is one of the most beautiful places I have been to. The people there are absolutely beautiful as well.

Where can one find your work if they are interested in purchase?

I do a lot of custom orders but through my website www.annamixon.com

You model as well?

Yes, modeling is more of a hobby to me than a career choice. I have met so many interesting people and it has opened up many doors for me.

Favorite hotel and favorite place to wine and dine?

Favorite hotel is the Standard hotel in Miami. The best place to just relax and get away. Favorite place to wine and dine would have to be La Locanda, a little Italian spot in South Beach. The best pasta by far in Miami.
