Trajan was born in September 18, 53? AD in Italica, Rome. He died  August 08, 117 in Selinus, Rome.
One of the greatest Roman emperors, Trajan was born to a family descended from Italian colonists settled in southern Spain in the 1st century b.c. A distinguished soldier with a broad background as an administrator both in Rome and in the provinces, Trajan enjoyed the favor of the bachelor emperor Nerva, who chose him as his son and heir. Liberal and moderate in his rule, Trajan was popular with the people and the army and had the confidence of the senate, which, while ever an autocrat, he treated with respect. Noted for his generalship, he conquered the kingdom of Dacia, comprising much of the present Rumania, and extended Roman rule in Asia to the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea.
