Studies show that every 2 minutes in America a woman is being raped and over the past 2 years over 787,000 women were victims of sexual assault and rape that were voiced and reported to the proper authorities. This discounts the thousands that are hidden behind fears and shame because the embarrassment and guilt runs too deep. In 2008 alone there were nearly 90,000 rapes that went reported and documented a sickening statistic that has remained in that region for years. Rape is a very sensitive subject respectfully so it hits home to millions of victims both female and no exception to male. What can we do to lower these statistics? How do we send more sexual offenders to prison where they belong? By rising above rape! Don’t be too ashamed to voice your stories your testimony can save lives from experiencing the very trial you faced if you have been there before. No voice is too small to be heard no story to old to be significant you can help save our women and children. Research by the FBI shows that only a mere 37% of rape crimes go reported and an even lower 26% of attempted rapes to he local P.D and law enforcement officials, this leave thousands if not millions of cases both unheard and unsolved allowing sexual predators a high possibility of escaping free to commit more sexual assaults. If you are a rape victim don’t lay silent voice your story and hopefully it will birth a chain reaction and domino effect tons more this touching matter although impossible to abolish can be attacked head on by its survivors. Sexual assault ranges anywhere from family members to neighbors and thought to be friends not just strangers alone making it so hard to trust again but don’t allow the circumstance to male you a victim you can be a leader, start rape survivor groups preach your testimonies and be an activist of rape awareness help the people by giving them a chance you didn’t have. When we all decide to come together and fight something more sinister and step away from fighting ourselves we can kill a statistic one by one if united we can rise above rape.

For years the African American community was looked down upon as a mockery and an unequal although these views are somewhat similar today than that of the past things have changed tremendously. Generations prior blacks couldn’t enter certain business establishments now we have black owners running their own businesses, the same skin color that was chained and bound to a racial disgrace in an injustice in slavery now sits comfortably in corporate offices behind a desk bearing a plate displaying their names and positions of power. Though a struggle was first faced the percentage of black owned businesses in America is on a continuous rise expanding in heights from its 2007 rise where businesses owned by blacks erupted to a whopping 1.9 Million. The African American culture has produced a plethora of multi millionaires and even a list of billionaire business owners and that shouldn’t be the end point there is so much potential out there that we can double that! If you have a dream you can turn your passion into your paycheck we need more dominant black figures in our communities and countries businesses the first step is to have faith in yourself and your plan don’t be afraid to embark on the big journey because of small doubts you can achieve anything you set your mind out to as long as you commit and pursue. Black owned businesses have increased 60% within the past few years however the unemployment rate has been fairly stagnant while we make slow progress we still need to step up and make more change. The potential threat of being killed is already buried in the back of the heads of millions the fear of it being our ''law enforcement officials'' behind the gun should not be next to it.
