Renovations Ideas for Your Outdoor Living Space

Renovations Ideas for Your Outdoor Living Space
For those living in the northern states of the United States, as difficult as it may be in these bitter cold winter days, there’s promise of brighter and warmer days not so far ahead. So, it’s never too early to start planning ahead for the backyard transformation you are dreaming about for those carefree summer days.
Here are a few ways you can transform a dull backyard into a place you can enjoy some fun in the sun:
The patio. Are you looking to turn a patio into a space that wows your friends and family? The possibilities are endless. While it can be upgraded at the ground level with concrete pavers in your choice of styles and shapes, it’s the elements you include on top of that ground that really spruce up your space.
Fountain. One of the most dramatic additions you can make to your outdoor space is a fountain. The right fountain can make your home look more luxurious, but also create a calming ambiance where you can decompress after a hard day at work.
Fire it up! Even if you don’t live in a cool climate, a fire pit is much more than a source of warmth. It’s a focal point that fosters social engagement, and simply relax to. It can be a beautifully custom built pit, or a more affordable and portable version from the local hardware store.
Kick the cooking up a notch. Everyone barbecues in their backyard, but not everyone does it at the same level. Don’t just use a grill, create an outdoor kitchen. A high-end grill is a great place to start, but if you really want to go all out, maybe add a pizza oven, a stocked and a flat screen TV, and you have a world class home entertaining area.
Landscaping. Adding a well manicured garden, and well placed pathways can turn a directionless backyard into one that has focus and appeal.

What You Need To Know Before Installing a Cable Deck Railing

What You Need To Know Before Installing a Cable Deck Railing
If you are building a deck more than 30 inches above the ground, you are going to need a guardrail.
International Residential Code (IRC) for one- and two-family homes (which is followed by most city building departments) requires that you install a 36-inch-tall “guard” to prevent anyone from falling from the deck to the grade below. While a half-wall or even a planter box can be used as a guard, most builders and homeowners prefer to use a railing system -- in this case, a cable railing system.
When building a code-compliant cable rail there are two other safety-related concepts you’ll need to take into account:

Spacing and Deflection

The cable infill you use to complete your railing system-- whether installed vertically or horizontally--will need to be spaced according IRC code section R312.3: “Required guards shall not have openings from the walking surface to the required guard height which allow passage of a sphere 4 inches in diameter.”

When you’re working with wood or metal pickets, this rule is much more straightforward and easy to comply with. But, because cable is flexible, you’ll need to make additional considerations for “deflection.” If you were to install cable infill with 4-inch spacing, one could easily push a 4-inch sphere between adjacent cables by pulling up on one and down on the other. The simple solution is to compensate by using 3-inch spacing for your cables. You could never put enough tension on the cable to eliminate deflection, and you certainly wouldn’t want to have an intermediate post every foot for support, so reducing the spacing will be your best bet. In fact, most cable rail suppliers offer posts pre-drilled with 3-inch spacing for code compliance.

The Ladder Effect

In 2000, the IRC included the following language in their guardrail requirements: “[guardrails]shall not be constructed with horizontal members or other ornamental pattern that results in a ladder effect.”
Despite the fact that this was stricken from IRC building guidelines in the following year (and the fact that there have been many code updates since), some inspectors are still making judgements based on the idea that “climbable guards” are not safe. If you have small children that love to climb and may not always be under direct supervision, this type of railing may not be the most practical choice. But, regulating organizations including the IRC and the International Code Council (ICC) are firm in their ruling that climbable guards haven’t proven to be a significant hazard, and that prohibiting horizontal features in a guardrail is too restrictive.

With that said, however; it’s important to be aware of the standpoint of the building inspectors in your area before you begin installation of your cable railing system.

If you want a cable railing system, you should have one! This simple, sophisticated update is sure to improve your views and the value of your home. Happy building!

Little Lauryn’s Princess crown

Posted | Views: 1
Everyone who knows Lauryn, knows she is a little princess, but did she REALLY need a crown???

YEP! Lauryn had PLAGIOCEPHALY

What is Plagiocephaly?

Plagiocephaly is a condition that causes a baby's head to have a flat spot (flat head syndrome) or be misshapen.
The most common form is positional plagiocephaly, which is what Lauryn had. It occurs when a baby's head develops a flat spot due to pressure on that area. Babies are vulnerable because their skull is soft and pliable when they're born.  Positional Plagiocephaly is caused by prolonged pressure being applied to one side or area of the baby's skull.

A baby's skull and bones are still soft and malleable during the first few months after birth. This making them prone to deformation if uneven pressure is applied over time. This includes the time a baby spends sleeping, reclined in a baby seat, bouncer, cradle or swing, strollers and car seats.
Plagiocephaly shows up most often in babies who are reported to be "good sleepers," babies with unusually large heads, and babies who are born prematurely and have weak muscle tone, which was the case for Lauryn.

Recent research and studies have shown that the incidence of deformational Plagiocephaly has increased rapidly since 1992 when the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) first recommended back sleeping and 1994 when it introduced its "Back to Sleep" campaign, recommending that parents place infants on their backs or sides to sleep in order to prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). This highly effective program has reduced the SIDS rate by almost 50% in the United States and across the world, but has resulted in the unintended consequence of a rise in positional Plagiocephaly.

What does this crown do?

The more “formal” name for what was Lauryn's “Princess Crown” is a cranial remolding helmet, a device that helps reshape the head. It creates or facilitates improved symmetry by guiding the growth of the child's head. For Lauryn, this device was used to make contact with the higher spots of her head and leave relief in the lower areas so that her head could fill in these areas. This technique , along with growth, guided the shape of her head into improved symmetry.

How often did Lauryn have to wear her “Princess Crown” and was it uncomfortable?

To get the best results, Lauryn needed to have her crown on as much as possible - Up to 23 hours a day! She did however get some "breaks" when needed, such as when watching a baseball game in 90 degrees weather. The helmet itself did not seem uncomfortable as it was very lightweight. The fit was snug, but not snug enough to cause headaches, pain or any other discomfort. The only downside was her getting sweaty or hot especially during the heat of the summer , so it was always essential to keep an eye on her body temperature and give her breaks when needed.

How long did Lauryn have to wear her “Princess Crown”?

As with so many things, each child is different. The most success is seen in the first year after birth/up until the fontanel closes (which is typically around 1 year, although it is common for this to take a little longer in infants with Down syndrome). The average time spent in a cranial remolding helmet is 3 to 6 months. Lauryn started wearing her helmet a little later than the ideal "start" time (around 6 months).
Doctors felt she still had time to benefit from it, so we forged ahead. Lauryn got her helmet when she was 8 months old and wore it until just before her first birthday (close to four months). She got to the point where she couldn't stand to put the helmet on, it got to be hot, sweaty and tight. We saw a significant improvement.

She still has a very slight "flat" spot, but it is not noticeable at all. Her princess crown is "displayed" in her bedroom.

Making A Difference

Inspired by Lauryn (the daughter of Jen Buechler - co-founder and current CEO), 21 DreamS was born out of a desire to "do something" for World Down Syndrome Day (on 3/21) - to create something that would raise awareness for Down syndrome, as well as to celebrate the beautiful lives of people who have Down syndrome.

21 DreamS started as a fairly simple concept; to create an inspiring book featuring pictures of and stories about individuals with Down syndrome.
The first volume was published, and several more have followed. In addition, 21 DreamS has evolved into a community platform where:
AWARENESS...
ACCEPTANCE...
INCLUSION...
and INSPIRATION...
is created.

About The Books

At the heart of 21 DreamS is a series of books entitled 21 DreamS - stories that will open your eyes to life.

Each volume gives a voice to 21 (plus Lauryn) beautiful and extraordinary individuals and
families.

Hopefully after studying the photographs and reading the stories featured in the books, readers will perceive the world in a new way - with eyes opened to a life of awareness, acceptance, inclusion and inspiration.

10-15% of the total cost of each book (a large portion of the proceeds) goes to Down Syndrome Indiana (our local Down syndrome organization), which is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with Down syndrome through education, support and advocacy.

Visit www.21dreamsproject.com to purchase your copy of 21 DreamS: stories that will open your eyes to life!

Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved in the 21 DreamS project! Join us in spreading the message of awareness, acceptance, inclusion and inspiration!
Be In the Book!

I am continually looking for families who are interested in a loved one being featured in one of the 21 DreamS books.

All photo sessions, etc. are currently done in Indianapolis, Indiana. If you are interested in being a part of 21 DreamS, please contact me at [email protected].
Help 21 DreamS Go Global!

I am looking at ways to expand 21 DreamS nationally/globally (such as connecting with photographers around the nation who would be willing to donate their time and talent in photographing families to be featured in future volumes).

Contact me at [email protected] if you are interested!

THE INSIDE SCOOP
Volume One, Number 10
February 20th, 2015
The Fall of Troy
Story By: Courtney Stanford
After a long game -- and eighty minutes of non-stop running -- the loud blaring horn of the buzzer goes off. The score is tied 1-1, so the rivals have no choice but to go into overtime. Up to this point the whole soccer game has been a struggle with boys covered in bruises and sweat, fighting after every loose ball, not caring if their bodies get injured in the attempt to win this game. All of this hard work comes down to the moment of truth which consists of two extra halves of ten minutes. These ferocious Wildcat boys have been preparing for this moment all season.
As the boys’ Varsity soccer team makes a run down the left wing, the pressure that has been building throughout the entire game suddenly bursts when a boy on the Yucca team trips one of our own, about forty-five yards down the field. This infuriates the Wildcat boys, and Samuel Smith hears his coach screaming from the sidelines telling Austin Stowers to take the kick. Stowers obeys, and with one quick accurate swing of his leg the ball flies into the air. Smith sees it flying in his direction he backs up, gathers himself, and when the time is right he leaps into the air and heads the ball into the goal, leading the Wildcats to victory with a score of 2-1.
Going into the game the boys knew that they had a good shot at winning. Smith says we “always play better on the road. We have also just been playing better in general. We haven't been giving up as many goals.” This was the boys’ first win in league this year, and the first time that we have beat Yucca in a decade, so the fact that we won makes the victory even more sweet because they are our rivals. The boys have been preparing for their season all year by dedicating almost everyday to building muscle in the weight room, and trying to enhance their skills with a series of drills. Their hard work paid off in the end, because there is no better feeling in the world than beating your rival in their own house.

It Just Makes Cents
Story By: Kathleen Moore and Alexis Hidalgo
Pennies for Patients is an annual fundraiser for individuals like Mia, a brave 9 year-old acute lymphocytic leukemia survivor of almost four years. The students of TPHS are encouraged through incentives to bring in their spare change to donate to the fundraiser.
This year, students had a say in what kind of incentives they would like. Cassidy Zimarik and the ASB committee decided that there would be a better turnout if people could vote for the incentives they wanted. Ultimately, these incentives are what inspires everyone to donate for such a life-changing cause. The incentives this year consist of things such as: Mr. Stanford getting the Avatar arrow painted on his head, Jarod Burks eating 25 worms, Chase McBride taking a vow of silence for two school days, and even music during lunch.
Some teachers like Mr. Keith, however, take the idea of incentives to a whole other level. He told his second period Honors English class that if they did not come in first place, then they would have to write an essay. Trent Applegate, a student of the class, half-heartedly said, “I donated about $109 in order to help Mia out, and plus I really just don’t want to write an essay.” Which is why Mr. Keith’s class won first place, Mr. Davis’ class won second, and Mr. Ingram’s class won third. Since those three classes were the ones that contributed to the fundraiser the most, they each win a class party of their choice.
But in the end, it does not matter how much you donate, because every cent -- in fact every penny -- makes a difference! Last year we raised $1,172, and this year we raised over $1,200! With this money we have helped changed the lives of other patients like Mia who are battling lymphocytic leukemia, and we will continue to do so in the years to come.

Picture Perfect
Story By: Ashton Henry
The 29 Palms Art Gallery hosted a "Students Art Show" this month to show off the artistic talents of students in our city of 29 Palms. Students from both the junior high and the high school were allowed to enter. Three of our very own Wildcats took first, second, and third places in the contest. Kamaljot Singh won first place, River Smith second, and Emily Martin third.
Kamaljot took first with a picture of an apple that he took with his phone. He changed the contrast of the photo, making the sky bluer and the apple brighter. Kamaljot held the apple in front of the sun, giving the apple an angelic appearance. The photo also has an ombre of blue, starting from the left bottom corner and moving upwards near Kamaljot’s hand. The blues fade from a light powder blue to a light navy blue. Kamaljot was surprised that the quality of his phone camera made for such a nice photo.
River Smith won second with his picture of a bird on our campus. “I just saw this bird in the tree next to the library, and I took a really good close up of it.” The overcast view behind the bird gave him the idea for a black and white photo. He also added contrast lighting to it and put the main focus on the bird to make it the subject of the photo, which was what they learned in class.
For their hard work on their pictures, the students won not only the first three titles in the contest, but cash money. Kamaljot won $60 and River won $45. Their photos are also shown in the 29 Palms Art Gallery. Congratulations to our artistic Wildcats!

There are many places where you can get delicious food that has good quality. The top places in Greeley to get food are Red Robin, Carl’s Jr, and Sonic.

Red Robin
Red Robin is the top place to get burgers, fries, and other good food. Red Robin has a high quality ingredients and gourmet burgers. Red Robin employees do random acts of kindness. There burgers there aren't smashed and the fries have a wonderful flavor.

Carl’s Jr
Carl’s Jr is the second top place in Greeley. Carl’s Jr offers good food, the burgers however are messy but it is still a pretty good place to eat. The fries are good and so are their desserts very good to. As you can see, Carl’s Jr is the second place that is delicious here in Greeley

Sonic
Sonic is a different than the other fast food places because it has a drive-in and a drive-thru. Also, Sonic’s employees serve their food on roller skates. There have good drinks and burgers. They have excellent ingredients. Therefore Sonic is the third place to go to eat food.
As you can see, there are 3 top fast food places because they have good food and quality.
"In The Lonely Hour" Review
"Deep down I know this never works, but let's play until we get hurt". Sam smith has wrote the most inspiring songs/album for heartache and his latest album, "In the Lonely Hour", just topped the single "Stay with Me.".
"Sam Smith's album has inspired young audience who may be bisexual, homosexual, heterosexual, and asexual , to be themselves and don't let people judge them" say's Miss, Mallory Mattivi. A Fast Food Review
The Romero Times
By: Ivett Arredondo Caro and Maliah Medina

There is so many new trends going on at Bella Romero that people don't even know about. The guys and girls are now dressing in a whole new style, very different from the 90's.

Some new trends girls are wearing today are mostly high-waisted pants/shorts with crop tops. We wanted to know what fashion trends were popular all over the school, not just in middle school, so we found Ms. Aragon. "For girls it would be leggings and high-waisted pants /shorts," said Ms. Aragon.  "From my point of view girls that wear short and tight clothes don't look good and should wear clothes that fit them right not to big or to tight but just right." On some Family Values Fridays we see tight clothes, but we also see a lot of long, flowing shirts, too!
the Final COUNTDOWN, SUPER BOWL XLIX: THE CLOSEST GAME

By: Maktar Yarrow, Dominic Plasencia, and Raul Nevarez, and Nathan Escobar

Did you know that every player person from the winning team on the super bowl each gets 189,000? The Super Bowl is a yearly football game that takes the best two teams and puts them head to head. In this
Left shark became viral after the game year in NFL 2015 the New England Patriots are going head to head with the Seattle Seahawks. Their has been thoughts how the New England Patriots are cheating by deflating the ball. But this year all those
Tom Brady MVP thoughts have been disproved by Bill Nye the science guy. This kind of news has been going around the NFL for a long time.
This years Super Bowl is XLIX, also known as 49. " I think this Super Bowl will be a pretty good game," says Mr. Banas, the P.E. Coach. This Super Bowl game is New England Patriots vs Seattle Seahawks at Seattle on February 1, on a Sunday.
The patriots won the Super Bowl in 2001, 2003, and 2004 and this year not including 2015. While the Seahawks won only in 2013. "The patriots are gonna win!" Says, a 7th grade student and it looks like he was right. As you can see, football is a big part of the year. This year as you may already seen the game on last Sunday the patriots won the super bowl. In the game the first quarter the patriots were winning by 7 points. But the Seahawks caught up quickly in the second quarter with both teams at 14. The fourth quarter is where the real action happened when the Seahawks were 1 yard away from the touchdown zone, and the rookie from the patriots made a interception! To top that off a big fight started between Bruce Irvin. After that Tom Brady took a knee and after that it the patriots won 28-24. The Super Bowl is the most watched this year. This Super Bowl will be remembered for years!!!

Who knows why kids do anything? When it comes to cyber bullying, they are often motivated by anger, revenge or frustration. Sometimes they do it for entertainment or because they are bored and have too much time on their hands and too many tech toys available to them. Many do it for laughs or to get a reaction. Some do it by accident, and either send a message to the wrong recipient or didn't think before they did something. The Power-hungry do it to torment others and for their ego. Revenge of the nerd may start out defending themselves from traditional bullying only to find that they enjoy being the tough guy or gal. Mean girls do it to help bolster or remind people of their own social standing. And some think they are righting wrong and standing up for others.

81% of young people think bullying online is easier to get away with than bullying in person. Tell your kids that as a responsible parent you may review their online communications if you think there is a reason of concern. Encourage your kids to tell you immediately if they or some one is getting cyber bullied. Some parents ask for there password to there social media apps just to be safe.
Tell your kids that as a responsible parent you may review their online communications if you think there is reason for concern. Installing parental control filtering software or monitoring programs are one option for monitoring your child’s online behavior, but do not rely solely on these tools.

Have a sense of what they do online and in texts. Learn about the sites they like. Try out the devices they use.Ask for their passwords, but tell them you’ll only use them in case of emergency.    Ask to “friend” or “follow” your kids on social media sites or ask another trusted adult to do so.

Encourage your kids or your friends to tell you immediately if they, or someone they know, is being cyber-bullied. Explain that you will not take away their computers or cell phones if they confide in you about a problem they are having.

Examples of cyber-bullying include mean text messages or emails, rumors sent by email or posted on social networking sites, and embarrassing pictures, videos, websites, or fake profiles.

Romero is on a roll! 8th grade basketball girls team has been working as a team to fight in basketball battles with other teams in the district. The more they sweat in practice the less they bleed in battles. Basketball is not easy but it is worth it. Bella Romero girls know that winners never quit and quitters never wins. These girls don't give up.

The more they're motivated, the harder they play. They learned that the more they play as a team the bigger the chance they have in winning. This is a hard lesson to learn sometimes, but these girls work together and communicate as a team, which helps them win.  But the wolves are not about winning, they are about team work and success. They have faced Brentwood, Heath, John Evans, Winograd, and Franklin and they have played their hardest and they still are not giving up.

Varsity has won 3 games and junior varsity has won 6 games. Bella Romero Academy and Heath Middle School was a really intense game.  The crowd was pumped, the students were cheering and the players were energized! One of the players, Fernanda Payan, made the last two-point shot, which led to the win.

Win or lose they maintain high self esteem and persistence. Bella Romero 8th grade basketball team is always industrious, working hard to get open during difficult plays.  They play really hard and even though they are exhausted, they keep it up and play hard.

Bella Romeo games are $1.00 for students and $2.00 for adults and $5.00 for the whole family. Bella Romero would really love to see you there this Saturday at 11 at Greeley West for JV's next playoff game!  They'll bring the ball and Bella will bring the game!
Girls on Fire!
New Fashion Trends
Also some new trends that guys are wearing today are skinny jeans, shorts, bro tops (like a tank top for guys) and snap backs. Raul, a very fashion-forward student in the class of 2020, told us that "what guys wear mostly is bro tops, skinny jeans/shorts with vans or Jordan's."  Before, girls used to be the only ones wearing skinny jeans, but now they're also popular with boys, but they wear them with different accessories.

As you can see boys and girls have different styles and have different opinions on what to wear. There's one thing we can all agree on: Everyone at Bella Romero is looking really stylish!

The Harlem Renaissance

Story By: Chiyanna Maxwell

This is huge... The 1920's have begun and it is like a whole new lifestyle has been born. Just about everyone in the city of Harlem is happy and loving life and high-spirited without a single worry in the world. The vast majority of the city is living life the luxurious way, unlike times before and in other places. This is the most "literary, artistic, and intellectual" (history.com) outbreak in all of American history. Not only that, but this is a chance for, specifically, African American writers, artists, and musicians, etc. to show off to everyone the talents they do have; show them their ability to do and advance in things that they have long been underestimated about. This is a chance for them to break out of their misery and feel free. Step outside on any ordinary day in beautiful Harlem, New York, and expect to be engulfed by music, elegance, literacy, beauty... This is the time where people like Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and many more will have made their mark of fame for their amazing abilities. This is the "New Negro Movement" (pbs.org). This is a time where an entire race that has been looked down upon for the longest can finally come out and prove everyone who ever doubted them to be wrong. "African Americans had endured centuries of slavery and struggle for abolition" (ushistory.org) . Now this here was their cultural celebration. This is the Harlem Renaissance.

Wilson and Gatsby Struck Down

Story By: Beinn Stewart

Yesterday a woman from East Egg was struck down by an unknown automobile. This occurrence was attributed to a man in a "Rich Cream Colored Car" , and this vehicles is currently being found. The victim of the Vehicular Manslaughter was one t Myrtle Wilson. While she was married to George Wilson, eye-witness accounts have also spoken about a "Secret Lover" , who might be a character known as "Gatsby" . If you have any information as to this occurrence, please call the newspaper, "The Jazz Age" . Directly after this tragic moment, a West Egg resident, Jay Gatsby, was shot by Myrtle's husband, George, and because of the murder-suicide, it is believed that Myrtle was seeing Gatsby, and was her "Secret-Lover" after all. The Newspaper does not yet know, however, why he would have hit Myrtle with car, besides the face that he might have gotten tired of the affair. All throughout the West and East Eggs, people are growing concerned for their safety, because there few people were not as dangerous as they have seemed. However, we have talked to George's psychiatrist, and he stated that he had recommended George for provided care in a mental hospital, though the formal request was denied on the grounds that he was "perfectly healthy" at the time of the request. One of the most dangerous things to the community is that these people were common men and women of the upper class. In these times of scares and fear, we just ask that anyone with information would come forward and help New York to clean up its streets. See more in the edition of "The Jazz Age" . (I tried to replicate the propaganda that was used severely in the Roaring Twenties.)

Gossip Gossip Gossip

Story By: Chayanne Ryan

Last Wednesday I was introduced to the lovely Daisy Buchanan and had the chance to sit down and interview her. With all the talk and controversy over her love triangle between the Jay Gatsby, and her husband Tom Buchanan, I knew exactly what my questions would revolve around; not only her love triangle but the one between her, her husband, and his mistress, Myrtle Wilson. As we sat and sipped on tea, I immediately began my interview. My first question was simple, I asked her about her life style, her favorite parts. Her face lit up with her response, she loves the wealth and the finer things; the expensive gown, the fame, glam, and all its perks. After doing my research, it was clear to me that Gatsby and Daisy had once knew each other, at a much earlier time, before Gatsby was known for his wealth and extravagant parties. I then asked Daisy what had happened, why their relationship did not work out the first time, he smile slimmed, and she said that things were much harder then, he was not nearly as wealthy, and he was working on it. This struck a few assumptions with me, but I didn't jump on them too quickly. I then asked her the simple question, why does she stay? It's the 20's, and us women have been given  these equal rights, we don't need to deal with the double standards no longer; so why? Why stay with a man that has done nothing but lie and cheat and treat her as only an object, a trophy to be exact. Her face was expressionless, as if a car had just hit her with the truth, she hesitated to speak, but then told me how Tom does love her, and their child, and how it all was just a mistake. We sat quiet for a minute, I didn't like her response. She then said softly, "and he provides" , and at that moment all my assumptions were proven true. The Daisy Buchanan is a woman who confuses lust with love. Both of these men are wealthy, and give her all that she wants and desires. She was, and still is too wrapped up in the fame and glamour that wealth provides that she refuses to leave whatever is toxic to her; and that my readers, is why you shouldn't let the price of something determine its significance.

Greek yogurt with honey and granola.  It  increases levels of pleasure boosting neurotransmitters, and the yogurt's probiotics may be a tasty way to fight depression . Honey really is a spoonful of sweetness, with compounds that may fight depression by reducing inflammation in the brain.

E Reece from T.IM.E.
LOOK WITHIN
In this age of PCs, IPads, and smart phones, we found it comforting to discover that our next featured artist still uses the old fashioned pen and paper to document lyrics.

E Reece (from T.IM.E.) is a bit of a throwback to the mid-nineties Hip Hop when many believe the genre was at its best. This true professional transitioned to hip hop after studying Jazz from seventh grade through high school. During this period he began freestyling more and went on to actually write rhymes during his college years. He graduated with honors on an academic scholarship. Music is his first love and tops his lists of hustles. He stays rooted in the industry by hosting and promoting parties, modeling, and even doing some acting. He's come a long way since helping his sister out on the local paper route. He approaches the business professionally by handling his own contracts, bookings, being on time, etc.

E Reece admits that he has always been a good writer. He achieves his distinct sound by listening to his inner voice. Insert the masterfully crafted "The Owner" by T.IM.E.; a track that illustrates the artist's unwavering truth and humility. He has managed to avoid following trends by staying true to himself. The Maryland native who also lived in New York briefly before relocating to California in 2001, credits his inspiration to his mother. She sang in a few groups when she was in college and shares an appreciation for music with him. Both of his parents were music lovers but actually, it was the artist formerly known as Prince who had a significant influence on E Reece. He has always been moved by music and loves how it evokes different emotions within the soul.

E Reece is a musician, poet, song writer, and arranger all rolled up in one. He likes to write alone late at night while the city sleeps. Aside from the money that he is fortunate to generate with his product, the artist creates music to make his Mom and his own family proud. He ensures that it will always be a creative outlet. E Reece describes his most notable performance in front of an audience as phenomenal. Although he will always remain loyal to his stateside support, he has tapped into a special type of love from fans overseas that is like none other. He added, "...even if they've never heard of you, and they're feeling you, they'll show you love....and not just daps and handshakes, but by buying your merchandise and actually supporting." His best show to date was in Beil, Switzerland while on tour with MED (Stones Throw) in front of 600+ people. The fans undoubtedly felt his energy.

By his own account, E Reece's audience is virtually anyone who likes good music from the mind, body, and soul. Once people hear his music, they like it and give him respect for staying true to himself and for respecting the culture. The Origins compilation is just one of many projects currently on the table for this promising talent. He has a single set to be released in February 2015 featuring a Jimetta Rose and produced by Stro Elliot of The Procussions. In conjunction with the release, E Reece is working on a video concept and looking for a label to help release it. He recently released a track entitled "Fallen Sons" which references police brutality and recent events happening around the country.

Ultimately, E Reece just wishes to leave behind a positive legacy and an outstanding discography; one that his son can be proud of and establishes him as a stand up guy who spoke meaningfully once he's gone. If it becomes his livelihood then great. But if not, he'll always have music out there that can be licensed and published for various uses. He challenges others to " stay true to yourself, don't be a follower, keep your eyes on the prize, and not to quit".
