LOCAL BUSINESS OWNER ANNOUNCES MAYORAL CAMPAIGN

With Derry's latest mayoral campaignproducing potential candidates from backgrounds such as law enforcement, the local pharmacy and old money neighborhoods, the town has, at last, been presented with a candidate who has a background in both law & politics.
Most of Derry's citizens may be familiar with Tara Maturin's work as a pro-bono defense attorney for her self-owned business Maturin Law. Around town she is recognized as an advocate for fairer pay, kickstarting the petition for Derry's janitors to receive fairer wages, a case she fought for and won.
Maturin also mobilized and funded a group of activists to preventthe demolition of the old arcade on Charter Street, proposing that it be repurposed into a theater. This showcased an ability to lean towards cost-effective thinking and solidified Maturin as a candidate who will advocate for keeping Derry modern and thriving instead of stuck in the past.
Given her background in the field, Maturin also proposes to make changes to Derry's legal system should she win the election. She states that her policies while campaigning will aim to leverage community activism and will seek to improve the lives of low and middle income families, suggesting that she may be the most progressive candidate.
The 47-year-old attorney will be challenging local pharmacist Norman Keene, 58; local law enforcement officer Oscar Bowers, 50; and City Councillor Frank Kaspbrak, 53.
