Lego Man Washes Up on Florida Beach

Posted by DarlingPD Views: 22,704

The front of his shirt was emblazoned with a grammatically incorrect message: "NO REAL THAN YOU ARE." The name "Ego Leonard" was written on the back of his shirt.

Initially, some wondered if the Lego Man was a publicity stunt put on by Legoland, which recently opened a new theme park in Orlando.

But a spokeswoman for the company said that Legoland takes no credit for the stunt and is not behind it. "I wish we could say we did it, it was a brilliant guerrilla PR stunt," said Julie Estrada, the spokeswoman. A more likely explanation is that it's all part of an anonymous Dutch artist's experiment.

Google "Ego Leonard," and you'll find he has his own website, written in Dutch with some English translation.

"I am here to discover and learn about your world and thoughts," he writes. "Show me all the beautiful things that are there to admire and experience in your world. Let’s become friends, share your story with me, take me with you on a journey through beautiful meadows, words, sounds and gestures." --- Keep reading this article

8-foot-tall Lego Man

washes up on FL beach

The Lego Man's arrival in America was like something out of a 3-year-old's dream.

The 8-foot-tall, 100-pound fiberglass statue that resembles the little plastic guys that come in a Lego set was discovered bobbing gently in ankle-deep surf at the Siesta Key Beach in Florida, just before dawn on Tuesday.

How and why did a huge Lego Man find its way to a Florida Beach?

Ronit Judelman: Guns

Posted by ParisCollective Views: 20,809

GUNS (2009). Sculpture, resin and found objects, 15x79x60cm.   No human hands pull the trigger. The gun/mob appears to take on a life of its own. Guns induces a sense of sadness and helplessness. Limp, wasted, lifeless miniature people suggest the impotence of war. The work impacts by using visual ambiguity. The multitude of colours implies playfulness, only to induce, on closer scrutiny, confusion and doubt.

Halloween Vintage Mask

-  Vampire Bat Woman

Damn, Halloween is getting closer and closer and as always I love checking out the vintage masks. I am tired of people dressed up like some reality TV idiot or a hooker. Don't get me wrong, I like to see women dress up sexy...but at the same time...why can't I see a woman dress up as a sexy zombie for once?

Banksy: Occupy London Monopoly Sculpture

Posted by WPD Views: 24,287

Though we hadn’t heard from elusive street artist Banksy in a little while, it should come as no surprise that his latest piece would be for the “Occupy” movement. Popping up at St. Paul’s Cathedral for Occupy London, this brand new sculpture features a panhandling Rich “Uncle” Pennybags on a make-believe Monopoly board.

Voltron II

THE VOLTRON THAT THE AMERICAN

The proposed "Voltron II" episodes (so called because they took place in the "Middle Universe") were to have been based on Lightspeed Electroid Albega. Although Albegas toys were marketed in the United States under the "Voltron II" name, the series was never actually aired there. Due to the extreme popularity of the Lion Voltron and lack of popularity of the Vehicle Voltron series, World Events Productions eventually elected against another alternate Voltron, and plans to adapt Albegas were aborted. Matchbox, however, did produce and market toy versions of the three robots (Black Alpha, Red Gamma, Blue Beta) under the Voltron name

The 007 That Could Have Been...

Posted by HOOGYS Views: 13,078

When  Sean Connery had left the James Bond series Eon films started to look for a new actor to portray the role of James Bond.  After many auditions they found and went with a total unknown.  A  29 yr old Austrian  car salesman who had become an English model, George Lazenby. The press constantly compared him to Connery.  Before the public got a chance to judge Lazenby for themselves the British press portrays him as a trouble maker on the set and feuding with his co-stars.

The press wanted someone to shoot down. Unbeknownst to Lazenby and everyone else; no one was prepared when Lazenby’s advisor makes an announcement to the press that Lazenby wasn’t going to do another Bond picture. When the producer’s were questioned about this they said; it was the first that they had heard of it and so they let Lazenby go. Lazenby didn’t feel that James Bond was going to go on anymore with movies like Easy Rider and changes going on in the culture. He figured this short haired character in a suit isn’t going to make it. When the film was release it set several box office records.

THE 007 YOU MAY NEVER

HAVE HEARD OF.

To this day he regretted at least not doing a second Bond film. Today most Bond fans consider Lazenby to be one of the best Bonds. Some fans consider his Bond more closely resembles the character in Ian Fleming's novels as a more humanize Bond compared to Connery’s emotionless superman. He may not have been Sean Connery, but he definitely had what it needed to play James Bond and was a perfect replacement despite having no prior acting experience. He had style and panache.

Hit-and-run toddler passed away

Posted by DarlingPD Views: 26,921

The hospital states that although they used the best-available resources from military and civilian experts, her injuries were simply too severe. The major cause of death was brain failure, which caused her major organs to shut down. The hospital "deeply regrets the loss, but thanks everyone for their concern and attention."

Our thoughts are with Yueyue's family as they deal with their loss. Outcry over the shocking display of heartless apathy in the double hit-and-run last week will undoubtedly continue as news of Yueyue's death reverberates throughout China.

We'll leave you with this, from an editorial published in ifeng:

This little angel belongs in paradise not in a cold world, right now she will be happy and blessed. She came to this world, let us remember her name, Wang Yue. All the best.

Yueyue, the toddler that sparked an outpouring of sympathy across China and the world this week, passed away this morning at 12:32am. The incredibly sad news was announced by a briefing at the hospital at 8:30am this morning. Yueyue was treated for seven days and nights in intensive care, but despite the best medical treatment available, she simply could not survive her injuries.
