Psychology and Colors

Why is color such a powerful force in our lives? Have you ever experienced any alterations of the mind and body when it comes to colors? It is said that colors have an effect on people’s mood, feelings, and behaviors even though color perceptions are subjective there are universal meaning of colors. Warm colors like red, orange, and yellow are known from feeling warmth and comfort all the way to anger. Knowing this relatively new information it started a whole new way to market products, brands, and service effectively.
Sir Isaac Newton discovered when pure white light passes through a prism, it then separates into visible colors. Each color made up with a single wavelength and cannot be separated by any further colors. You can however combine lights and or mix paint to make a color from other colors. (Cherry)
Personal preferences, experience, upbringing, society, and context all have a role in the effect colors have on us. We as people associate colors with moods, and or objects. When you think of a pencil what color is it? Chances are its yellow because 75% of pencils you see are yellow. There is importance and advantages companies can use knowing personal preferences of color through gender, our society, and context in which the color is seen.

The Peach Pit

Posted | Views: 512
Welcome to You're A Peach!  So what are we all about? Cassie and I are two gals who love the Catholic faith. We wanted to create a monthly mog( a cross between a magazine and a blog) to celebrate each month of the year in a truly catholic way. We both love the church and the beauty of the catholic faith but know it can often times be easy to lose the joy for the faith in the hectiness of daily life. Here at You're a Peach we have everything from fashion to hot topics to celebrating each month of the year in style, the catholic way. There is so much imagery and the thematic beauty in the Catholic church that we literally can't stop from sharing it. This pre- launch is for the moth of February. Who know there was so much to celebrate and discuss for the month of February?  So grab your favorite beverage of choice and get comfy as you take a glimpse into the crazy awesome month of February- catholic style.
God bless-Deanna

Dear Parents and Community Members,

I am experimenting with a new format for the weekly e-blast. Instead of including all content on one page, information in this version is organized and displayed on separate pages in a digital magazine style. Sections are included for school, public library, parks and recreation, and community news. I hope that you find this format more useful and easier to navigate than the previous style. I will be looking for your feedback about which style you prefer in a few weeks.

I hope that you and your family had a very Happy
Thanksgiving together, and that the snow did not impact
any travel plans that you had. I spent Thanksgiving with my parents, siblings, nieces and nephews. Although I was grateful to spend family time with them, I missed being with my daughters and their husbands. My older daughter Sara and her husband are traveling in Southeast Asia, while my younger daughter Jenny and her husband are visiting his parents in the Florida Keys. It seems like just yesterday they were in elementary school, and now they are all grown up!

principal’s message
Here is a picture of Sara and Jenny in costumes that I made for them in 1994. Looking at this picture made me stop to think how important it is to slow down and appreciate each moment
in life. The older I get,the faster time seems to
pass by. It is so easyto get caught up in the
frenzy. My wish for all of us is that we slow down to focus on what matters the most - our family and our children - and work together to provide the best possible environment that our children can learn and thrive in. Thank you for all that you do to make that happen at GCS!

Best wishes,
Angela Rossbach

A young lady was waiting for her flight in the boarding room of a big airport. As she would need to wait many hours, she decided to buy a book to spend her time and also bought a packet of cookies, then sat down in an armchair, in the VIP room of the airport, to rest and read in peace. Beside the armchair where the packet of cookies lay, a man sat down in the next seat, opened his magazine and started reading. When she took out the first cookie, the man took one also.

Ways on Reduction of Your Budget Expence

Ways to Increase Financial Efficacy of Canada

There are a lot of opinions considering the development of the international market but as we live in Canada, we need to consider the situation within the limits of the country. It must to be noticed that the Canadian economy is highly dependent on the tendencies in other countries. One of the ways to overcome any financial and economic crisis is to reduce the cost of the national currency so that to be able to sell the products more effectively. Of course, there are a lot of financial experts consider that this way of increasing the efficacy of the national economy is not rather reliable as if other countries start decreasing the prices for products as well, the profits will be rather low. As a result, the decline in the manufacturing process is inevitable. If the economy struggles to overcome any difficulties, then the problems with the employment will be present in the country as well.
Ways to Reduce Fees for Your Loans

If you consider the possibility to live on loans, you need to examine the sphere of business and to take the decision that can help you overcome financial difficulties. All you need to do is to find out the list of reliable lenders that do not overcharge and you will not need to pay high money for using the financial services. Once you have decided on the lender you would like to use, it is better to learn the fee beforehand. Finally, you will learn the amount of money you will need to repay. Also, you will have a chance to learn the conditions and terms of using the financial services and you will also need to learn what additional payments could be applied if you delay the repayment of the fees on time. Once you know all the details, you can apply.

PROPHET MUHAMMAD LAST SERMON

Posted | Views: 405

In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Prophet Muhammad's Last Sermon
This sermon was delivered on the Ninth Day of Dhul Hijjah 10 A.H.
in the 'Uranah valley of Mount Arafat' (in Mecca).
After praising, and thanking Allah he said:
"O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and TAKE THESE WORDS TO THOSE WHO COULD NOT BE PRESENT HERE TODAY.
O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your LORD, and that HE will indeed reckon your deeds. ALLAH has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has Judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn 'Abd'al Muttalib (Prophet's uncle) shall henceforth be waived...
Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.
O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.
O People, listen to me in earnest, worship ALLAH, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to.
All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.
Remember, one day you will appear before ALLAH and answer your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.
O People, NO PROPHET OR APOSTLE WILL COME AFTER ME AND NO NEW FAITH WILL BE BORN. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the QURAN and my example, the SUNNAH and if you follow these you will never go astray.
All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O ALLAH, that I have conveyed your message to your people".

Thunder Buddies Nearing Return

Posted | Views: 983
Oklahoma City Thunder fans can finally take a deep breath, because it sounds like the reinforcements will be coming a little bit sooner than expected. Reports from The Oklahoman indicate that both Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant participated in the Thunder's practice on Monday and there's a chance they could play on Friday night against the Knicks if their evaluations go smoothly.
What does this mean for OKC?
Well when it comes to winning, it means just about everything! The Thunder are off to a horrid 3-12 start and have the second lowest win percentage in the league behind only the Sixers. OKC has patched together a lineup which features players such as Sebastian Telfair, Lance Thomas, Andre Roberson and Ish Smith and has seen heavy minutes from Kendrick Perkins. The lone playmaker on this Thunder team has been Reggie Jackson, who was two rebounds away from a triple double in the Thunder's three point loss to the Warriors on Sunday. Jackson can only do so much, and the guy who was really supposed to step up was Serge Ibaka and we really haven't seen that happen. In a previous HOOPSAHOLIC blog post I criticized the play of Ibaka:

From 11/20:
"Through the first twelve games this season Ibaka is averaging 15 points and 7.3 rebounds. Both numbers are down from last season in 2013-14, a year where Ibaka was the third option on the team. The difference now is that he needs to play like the number one guy for the Thunder, but instead his numbers are technically getting worse."

I don't need to remind everyone that both Durant and Westbrook are two of the top five players in the NBA, so their nearing return will be monumental to this team and the city. Right now the Thunder are fighting valiantly, but struggle to create their own shot or scoring opportunities. The Thunder rank last in the league for points per game, averaging only 89.6 a night. KD and Westbrook can both get shots up at will and hit them at a high clip, so that scoring average will increase substantially when the duo returns. Not only will they be getting their shots up, but both stars will help set up other guys for easy scoring opportuinites as well. Players such as Steven Adams and Roberson will find it easier to score when their defender is busy double-teaming either of the Thunder's all-stars. KD and Westbrook are also world class passers that can fit the ball in tight spots. Many times last season and this preseason we saw Durant or Westbrook drive to the hole and dump it off to Adams for an easy flush, or one of the stars connected with Roberson who was slashing for an easy layup. The top video to the right shows Westbrook dishing a stellar pass to Perry Jones after Westbrook sucked in the defense on his drive to the basket. The second video shows Durant getting the defensive attention then passing it to Serge for an easy score. Those are the type of easy points the Thunder will be able to get with their studs back in the lineup. Even Jackson will find himself with easier opportunities to score now that the opposing team's best defender won't be guarding him.
Despite the lack of shooting success for this depleted Thunder team, the defense has been a subtle bright spot. OKC is currently ranked fifth in the NBA, only giving up 94.9 points per contest. The stifling defense of this club has been the primary reason they've been to compete with teams late into the fourth quarter. The Thunder were able to hold Golden State to 15 points less than the 106 points per game average the normally score on a nightly basis. The increased effort has been there from this ball club even though that effort isn't translating into W's. That alone will bode well for the Thunder as the season trucks along down the final stretches. Role players on this OKC team have garnered valuable experience on both ends of the floor, which should ultimately result in a better overall team once everyone's back and healthy. Players have also been able to see what being the bottom feeder is like, which should provide extra motivation to win.
I really hope I'm not speaking too soon when saying this, but the health of this OKC team couldn't be coming at a better time. Durant and Westbrook returning ahead of schedule will surely serve as an umbrella to the rainstorm that the 2014-15 season has brought OKC so far. Say that they each waited until late December to return like many thought the stars would. That would be 12 more games that Durant and Westbrook would miss and eventually have to dig themselves out of down the stretch.
Thunder Buddies Nearing Return
It's not that Ibaka is playing bad, it's that he's not stepping up and taking on a bigger role like this Thunder team desperately needed him to. It's evident that "Air Congo" needs the help of KD and Westbrook in order to excel at a high level in this league. The good news: they'll be back soon.
After a series of bad breaks to start the season, it looks like the Thunder are finally getting some good news. Now, all of OKC needs to pray that the cities heroes will reign supreme and stay healthy for another fantastic playoff run.   -BC

The College Dilemma

Posted | Views: 936
The Future of Print
College Students, you're worried about tuition, what major to choose, and even how to arrange your schedule. One thing you may not be thinking about is the textbook dilemma.

A week into classes, you've paid your tuition, picked a major-maybe temporarily, and arranged your schedule. But then, classes begin and your professor reminds you of one more cost you may have forgotten to consider- textbooks!

Let's be honest. Sometimes, you don't even need a textbook for a class, and your professor may tell you right away. But for those students who prefer to get all their textbooks, there is the issue of cost. According to the Government Accountability Office, textbook prices have risen 82% from 2002 to 2013. With these prices on the rise and the ever increasing cost of tuition, students are forced to make sacrifices for other things they may need.

Textbook prices are increasing, and as more information about certain subjects become available, some of them get bigger and heavier. Being a college student, you have to lug quite a bit of things around. Another heavy item can be the breaking point for any student.

For many, e-textbooks are much more preferable to the print textbooks. They are lighter to carry, you can have multiple books on one device, they are cheaper, and searching for something in an e-book is much more easier than flipping through multiple pages of print. Another aspect people find easier to do in e-books rather than print is finding the definition of a word. In print, you may see a word you don't know the definition to, so you would look it up online or in the dictionary. With a digital book, you can just press on the word and search for the definition immediately.

Many journalists and authors agree to the fact that e-books are here to stay because digital is here to stay. For some, that is exciting news in the world of digital books. For others, they prefer to hold a physical book in their hands. There will still be physical copies of books, but for college students, digital seems to be more convenient. Students are always on the go, and their books need to be as well.
